Situated along the Pacific Coast two hours north of Los Angeles, this community is beloved by entertainers and entrepreneurs who enjoy both the solace of Santa Barbara suburbia and the convenience of city life. Palatial homesteads are nestled in the foothills of the Santa Ynez mountains and the Pacific’s stunning blue waves are exalted by sweeping villas. Montecito’s unsullied coastline, mature orange trees, and nuanced opulence are California at its best.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Montecito’s exquisite taste and refined palette are reflected in its restaurants, which mix global cuisines with fresh, vibrant ingredients. The authentic Italian fares found at Tre Lune are delicately plated, and the carefully crafted menu recreates bold Italian flavors. Lucky's has long been a Montecito staple, offering everything from USDA Prime beef, fresh seafood, incredible salads, to a lovely Sunday brunch. Luxury hotel Rosewood Miramar Beach also takes full advantage of the coast, and their private stretch of white sand is perfect for an extravagant staycation, or a simple afternoon nosh at the Miramar Beach Bar  Their private social club, Miramar Club, includes member access to all resort amenities including their 5-star restaurant, premiere athletic and spa facilities, and, of course, their beachside cabanas and concierge service.

Chic and sophisticated Coast Village Road is Montecito’s go-to shopping district, complete with high-end apparel retailers, posh home decor and art dealers, and gourmet bakeries and dessert shops. Indulge in a cone of ice cream at Rori's Artisanal Creamery, bite into a slice of artisanal pizza at Bettina Pizzeria, and work up a sweat at Simpatico Pilates.

Things to Do

Montecito is best enjoyed outside. Whether you’re dining alfresco, sunbathing on the white sand beaches between dips in the Pacific, or hiking the Santa Ynez Mountains, Montecito’s stunning natural scenery is the perfect playground.

Escape into one of the beautifully manicured gardens at Ganna Walska Lotusland. The historic home of Polish opera singer Madame Ganna Walska has been transformed into a non-profit botanical garden that houses over 3,000 species across 37 acres. The elaborate gardens reflect Walska’s penchant for the dramatic and the whimsical, and each garden boasts a theme that inspires its horticulture. Whether you peruse the Bromeliaceae in the tropical garden or rest in the shade palm garden, a trip to Lotusland is a must for anyone with a green thumb.  Reservations are required and it is recommended you book a reservation 3-4 weeks ahead of time.  While Lotusland is open for reservations year round, the lotuses usually bloom from late June to mid August.

A trip to Casa del Herrero takes visitors back to the Montecito of the 1920s. This stunning homestead is considered the cornerstone of Spanish Revival architecture in America, and the house has been immaculately preserved to reflect the era of its construction. Listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and considered a National Historic Landmark, a stroll through the Moorish gardens and a tour through the hallowed halls makes for an excellent afternoon.
