Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative

A favorite event in Santa Barbara, Pianos on State is a collaborative and interactive musical experience that takes place during Arts and Humanities month in October. Each piano becomes its own piece of art as local Santa Barbara artists create individual looks. Amateur, professionals and public musicians are invited to sit down and play! 

M. Special Brewing Company

Downtown Santa Barbara is hosting sizzling salsa dancing every Wednesday of October from 6 – 8 PM in front of M. Special at 634 State St. Enjoy free salsa lessons led by the amazing Brenda Ruiz from 6 – 7 PM, followed by open dancing from 7 – 8 PM. This event is open to the public and free of charge. M. Special will offer food and drink specials throughout the evening.

Santa Barbara Museum of Art

Bring the whole family to enjoy Teaching Artist-led activities in the Museum’s Family Resource Center. Design your own mini-folded clothes from book pages inspired by Isabel Barbuzza’s Re-Designing My Library (1989). Afterward, enjoy the galleries until 8 pm

Linden Avenue Carpinteria

The California Avocado Festival welcomes everyone to 3 days full of Peace, Love and Guacamole. This year there will be 60 bands, 50 arts & crafts and commercial vendors, 15 delicious food vendors and over a dozen non-profits will be on site for you to help support. The event showcases the endless ways to eat an avocado and attendees can also enjoy other various local vendors and plenty of live entertainment in the heart of the neighboring town of Carpinteria. 

Rancho La Patera & Stow House

Join the Goleta Valley Historical Society for a great day of old-time music! Enjoy all-day entertainment by some of the best old-time bands in the world – all in the beautiful, historic gardens of Rancho La Patera & Stow House. 

Santa Barbara Bowl

As a musical brotherhood since 1995, Slightly Stoopid, led by the vastly versatile duo of Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, has expanded its fusion of rock, reggae, acoustic soul, hip hop, heavy metal, and punk rock, and achieved artistic freedom and commercial success while subscribing to their own DIY ethos. 

Santa Barbara Bowl

Clairo brings her Charm ’24 Tour to the Santa Barbara Bowl on Oct. 7, with special guest Alice Phoebe Lou opening the show. Experience Clairo’s unique blend of dreamy pop and introspective lyrics in a stunning outdoor venue. Don’t miss this chance to see two incredible artists.

Lane Farms

Get ready for the ultimate fall family adventure at Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch! Explore our twisting corn maze, meet adorable farm animals, hop on thrilling tractor tours, and pick the perfect pumpkin for your autumn decor. 

Open Monday – Friday from 12 – 7 PM; Saturday – Sunday from 10 AM – 7 PM  and 12 PM – 5 PM on October 31st.

Lobero Theatre

Jazz at the Lobero presents Herb Alpert and Lani Hall on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 7:30 PM. Music icon Herb Alpert, his GRAMMY® winning vocalist wife Lani Hall, and their incredible band perform an eclectic mix of American standards, Brazilian jazz, some Beatles, classic Tijuana Brass & Brazil ’66 songs, as well as many surprises. The show also features a giant video screen that displays hundreds of classic photos, videos and various memorabilia from Herb and Lani’s music careers.

El Presidio de Santa Barbara State Historic Park

The Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation presents the 15th Annual Asian American Neighborhood Festival; a free, family-friendly event celebrating the Asian American communities that once thrived in and around the Santa Barbara Presidio neighborhood.

Jazz at the Lobero presents Mariza on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 7:30 PM. A chart-topping superstar of the fado movement in Portugal, Mariza has had a global following since the early 2000s. The multi-platinum-selling singer, who’s received numerous national and international awards throughout her career, has distinguished herself by gradually incorporating elements from other folk and popular traditions into her music.

Tango Lovers presents Volver 2 on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 7 PM. Fall in love with Argentina and Uruguay all over again with Tango Lovers’ electrifying production, VOLVER 2. Santa Barbara Harbor

Savor the abundance of the Santa Barbara Channel at the 2024 Santa Barbara Harbor & Seafood Festival! During this annual event, attendees get the opportunity to meet the fishermen who catch and harvest the high-quality, fresh-off-the-boat seafood sourced sustainably from local waters. Dig into some of Santa Barbara’s specialties, including freshly caught lobster and sea urchin (uni) prepared before your eyes. Visit specialty food booths for fish tacos, oysters, mussels, barbecued albacore, fresh crab, clam chowder, seafood paella and more.

Santa Barbara Zoo

With six nights of “spell-a-bration,” there’s plenty of time to get into the Halloween spirit as the Zoo offers safe trick-­or-treating and “monster-ous” thrills and chills.  As one of Santa Barbara’s most beloved Halloween happenings, Boo at the Zoo, features trick-or-treating, Zoo Train rides, a hay bale maze, creepy-crawly animal encounters, mad science experiments, bounce houses, dancing, and more! Tasty treats and booo-zy adult beverages are available for purchase. 

Solvang Chamber of Commerce

Solvang will welcome the season in true fall style as the village kicks off the Annual Solvang Scarecrow Fest and Contest. During the month-long Scarecrow Fest, which concludes on Halloween, Santa Ynez Valley businesses and organizations will participate in the contest by featuring a scarecrow of their own creation posted at their location.

Hotel Californian

This fall marks the 20th Anniversary of the Academy Award-winning film Sideways, now streaming on hulu. Hotel Californian is partnering with Searchlight Films and Hitching Post Wines on a celebratory complimentary screening on the anniversary of the film’s US debut. Bring a blanket and gather on the Court of Califia at Hotel Californian for an outdoor movie night. Movie screening is complimentary, and available on a first-come, first-served basis as space allows.

SOhO Restaurant & Music Club

A full night of music, dance, and delicious food at one of Santa Barbara’s most beloved spots, SOhO.El Cachivache Tango Orkestra will perform. This well-loved band is making their second trip to Santa Barbara. They’ve revolutionized the sound of tango with their unmistakable “punk” edge. Constantly touring the world, they are one of the most sought-after bands globally.

University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB)

In celebration of Family History Month and international Home Movie Day, the UCSB Library’s Santa Barbara Community Archives Project is partnering with the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society (SBCGS) to promote the importance of home movie collections and to provide free digitization services for Santa Barbara community members. Digitized materials will be preserved for future generations in the Library’s Local History Collections.

Who’s ready for some Fall fun? The Solvang Farmer Pumpkin Patch is back with pumpkins, gourds, squash, corn stalks, hay bales, a kids maze and a 14-acre corn maze!

Lobero Theatre

Lobero Love  presents Aimee Mann with special guest Jonathan Coulto. One of the most distinguished singer-songwriters of her generation, Aimee’s successful solo career has spanned several decades with two GRAMMY® Awards, several GRAMMY® nominations, and the release of nine critically acclaimed solo albums – including the profoundly popular soundtrack for the film Magnolia, which garnered an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for Best Song in 2000. The Painted Cabernet

Get ready for Halloween with The Painted Cabernet! Come paint a skeleton dog in honor of Dia de los Muertos. Classes are taught by local artists and provide step-by-step instructions for all skill levels to achieve the final result. There will be a costume contest so come dressed to impress! Wine and beer are available for purchase!
