Tiles on Deck – Mah Jongg at the Maritime Museum

Enjoy an afternoon of Mah Jongg, harbor views, and friendly competition during the third annual Tiles on Deck at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. Set in the heart of Santa Barbara Harbor, this lively event welcomes players of all skill levels for a fun-filled day of game play, camaraderie, and maritime charm.

The afternoon includes lunch followed by Mah Jongg beginning at 12:30 p.m. No quarters are needed, and prizes will be awarded after each round of play. Guests can register individually or reserve a table of four for an afternoon of strategy, fellowship, and scenic waterfront surroundings.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum’s exhibitions, educational programs, and community initiatives, helping preserve and celebrate the rich maritime heritage of the Santa Barbara Channel.

Santa Barbara Open Studios Tour

The largest and most prestigious event of its kind on the Central California Coast, the tour is also one of the most-anticipated annual events in the regional art world. Collectors, gallery owners, fellow artists, and art students flock to the open studios to chat with the artists, see their latest works, and get a glimpse into their creative process.

Open studios are marked by yellow flags, and a map of their locations. Tickets are available online. Maps, tickets and brochures will be available at the Community Arts Workshop during the reception and throughout the weekend.

6-Week Adult Intermediate Acrylic Course

This class will jump off from the basics and start to dig into technique, practices, style and composition. You’ll work on a new painting of your choice (from a reference photo), but this time you’ll also do a few paint-alongs and learn from artists you admire. You’ll also do some quick lesson work by playing with limited palettes and strokes.

Class is limited to 12 students but will require a minimum of 6 to be conducted.

Class runs each Tuesday from 1-3:30pm

They recommend upgrading your paint to professional heavy body colors (golden brand is a favorite) as you start to run out of Basics/Student grade paint if you haven’t already and purchasing a few more canvases. 2-8×10 panels (cheap is fine) for the first night and your regular supplies is all you’ll need.

Music Academy of the West

Since 1947, the Music Academy of the West has provided classically trained musicians and diverse audiences with transformative educational and performance experiences. As part of its annual Summer Music Festival & School, the Academy presents the Fellowship Institute, which trains up to 150 fellows ages 18–34, alongside the new High School Intensive, a two-week program for 105 gifted musicians ages 14–18. Year-round programs include Sing!, a youth choir that performs with local, national, and international partners; and the Mariposa Concert Series, featuring Academy-affiliated artists. Each summer, the Festival showcases more than 100 performances and events, including masterclasses, competitions, and a fully staged opera.

ESP Method Workshop

Drawing on more than 20 years of study with Balinese healers, global shamans, and Western and functional medicine practitioners, Schaefer will guide participants through the foundations of the ESP Method while exploring how the body’s emotional, spiritual, and physical signals can support healing, intuition, clarity, and personal growth. Whether returning from last year’s workshop or attending for the first time, guests will receive a step-by-step introduction and practical techniques for integrating the method into daily life.

Santa Barbara Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival

Santa Barbara Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival is the only one of its kind in Southern California, and one of three on the west coast alone. Rooted in the community, the festival’s values ring true in the collaboration with local artists, the venue location, a commitment to going green, the dedicated committee of event planners, and through partnerships with non-profit organizations. Whether you’re an artist or a shopper, a collector or an admirer of sea glass, local or just visiting; there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

The festival hours are Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. & Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Knowledge Sharing — Expert speakers Mary Beth Beuke, Jo Fry and Sage Harmon will share their knowledge and help attendees identify their treasured finds

New Merchandise — Artist Andrew Rodriguez has created a Special Edition T-shirt and prints of original art inspired by the Santa Barbara Sea Glass and Ocean Arts Festival.

Sound Healer Training: An Embodied Education with Danielle Elese

Yoga Soup

Explore the art and science of sound healing during a three-month training and certification program with Danielle Elese at Yoga Soup. Combining ancient wisdom with modern techniques, the training covers practices ranging from crystal bowls and nervous system harmonization to ceremonial practice and trauma-informed facilitation.

This hybrid program combines self-paced online coursework with live, in-person sessions focused on experiential learning, discussion, mentorship and integration. Participants will develop the awareness, presence and practical skills needed to facilitate sound experiences for individuals or groups, or to incorporate sound healing into an existing practice.

Training runs September 14 through November 16, 2026, with live sessions on select Mondays and approximately one to three hours of online learning per week. The program begins September 14, and late registration will not be available.
